Ever since I tasted the genuine bars, especially the orange ones, I’ve loved them. They’re a nice healthier alternative to treats. So after mentioning it on Twitter and a friend of mine sending me his recipe, I thought I’d have a go at making my own.
I didn’t end up using that recipe, or any of the recipes I had seen or found before (there are loads online), I just took the basic idea, and of course read the original label. So seeing as they’re pretty simple bars, and not too many ingredients, it wasn’t too hard. Anyway, here’s my recipe and how I made them:
– Pitted Dates
– Raw Cacao Powder
– Flavour (Orange zest, and fresh squeezed juice. I made some with Vanilla Extract too)
First up, here’s the actual measurements of what I used for mine, this makes about 9-10 bars:
– 150 grams of Cashews
– 250 grams of Dates
– 2 Tablespoons of Raw Cacao Powder
– Zest of 1 Orange
– 2 or 3 Teaspoons of fresh squeezed Orange Juice (Or Vanilla Extract, use a good quality one)
So for the method, there’s not a lot to it, literally put it all in a blender, or food processor, and mix it up. I do it so there’s still a few lumps of date, and nice size bits of cashew as I like them like that. The finished product is below, I tried stacking them nicely, but it does just look like a mound of brown. They taste brilliant though.
